Small stone metate

The metate is a great tool for fine grinding to make corn tortillas or atole. It can also be used to grind seeds, dry, chilies and spices.

The metate we carry is completely hand carved by our artisans in Mexico from a single block of the finest quality gray basalt Volcanic rock through a laborious chipping process. It will last for many years with good use and care. Completely natural and safe, it contains no toxins or lead.
